Cruelty-Free skincare products that work

One of my product peeves is buying a full sized item that makes big promises, only to fall flat and leave me with another unused, unloved product in my bathroom closet.

Biossance’s products do not disappoint.  And in case you’re on the fence, the company  generously offers test sized samples (assorted, $7, free shipping) so the commitment is low.   I ordered mine online at:

Squalane has long been popular as a natural moisturizer, and tends to work well for those who can’t tolerate products with perfumers or additives.  It removes make up gently and thoroughly, leaving skin radiant, fresh and silky smooth.

However, it is traditionally sourced from shark livers.  I tried it years ago and liked the results.  It had such an amazing texture.  It was the ultimate gentle, non irritating make up remover!  But I felt uneasy knowing it came from an animal source and the uncertain about how it was obtained.

Luckily, Biossance offers a 100% plant-based squalane sustainably made from sugarcane that’s derived in an eco-friendly way.

Exceptional Hydration for Dry Skin!

Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil

I thoroughly enjoy using these oils, especially the Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil. Both feel great on the skin, nourishing without heaviness.  You only need a small amount, a couple of drops for your entire face and another drop to smooth the under eye area.

I see a visible difference in hydration and brightness, especially where I’m dry and a bit crepey under my eyes and on my cheeks. It also gives the brows a nice glow and helps keep them in place.  While I admit to being a bit of a product junkie, I appreciate a product that can multi-task, and this product is a winner for anyone who wants quality, value and ease of use.

Rather than using a make-up primer with many ingredients (and possible irritants), I find the  Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil works well as a primer for mineral powder or matte liquid foundations.

For Body and Hair

100% Squalane Oil is a weightless, multipurpose oil for your body or hair.  I like to add a few drops to my hair to smooth and moisturize.  A little goes a long way!  It doesn’t weigh hair down, and it doesn’t build up the way a silicone based serum can.   I’ve tried so many serums and they sometimes improve my hair on day one.  However, they often end up weighing it down, for a flat, greasy look. What a find to discover this line.

The products arrived simply but beautifully packaged, and a follow up travel kit order came with additional free samples.  Biossance also offers a variety of product sets that make thoughtful holiday gifts!  I also love that Biossance is EWG verified.
